Delhi LG, Sardar TS Sandhu, today interacted with and addressed senior Delhi Police officials (ACsP and above) at the PHQ Auditorium, Jai Singh Road, in the presence of Commissioner of Police. This was the LG’s second visit to Police Headquarters, following his earlier visit on 24 June 2026 and the interaction focused not merely on initiatives undertaken since then, but on what had changed on the ground in terms of measurable outcomes and achievements. The interaction also focused on what had been the public response to initiatives taken and the gaps that remain and what further action were being taken to bridge these gaps. The LG said the objective must be simple and clear: a safer Delhi and greater confidence of citizens in their police.
Citizen-Centric, visible and responsive policing
On citizen-centric policing, the LG directed that every police station be a place where citizens feel heard, helped and safe, calling for a stronger connection between police stations, beat officers and the communities they serve, along with increased visible presence and strengthened foot and motorcycle patrolling in vulnerable, crime-prone and high-footfall areas. Particular attention should be given to areas around schools, colleges, markets and transport hubs, he said.
Jan Sunwai through digital tracking mechanism
The LG also directed that Jan Sunwai grievances be tracked through a digital mechanism, with every complaint acknowledged, tracked and acted upon within a defined timeline and complaints pertaining to other departments be promptly forwarded to the concerned agency.
Special attention towards security of women and children: Pink Force for women safety
Stressing that women’s safety is non-negotiable, the LG said women must be safe on every street, at every hour and directed the continuation of focused action against eve-teasing and harassment in public spaces under Operation Shishtachar. Citing Goa Police’s “Pink Force” as a model, he directed Delhi Police to come up a similar “Pink Force” that comprised of a dedicated Women-Centric Patrol Unit, comprising trained women personnel. They should be deployed at schools, colleges, metro stations and other vulnerable hotspots for high-visibility deterrence and rapid response, particularly during vulnerable hours.
The LG also directed regular, interactive awareness programmes in schools on POCSO and child safety, cybercrime, substance abuse and road safety, with each Police District nominating a Nodal Officer and preparing a quarterly calendar for such sessions. He called for police stations to organise regular sports activities for children aged 5 to 15, in coordination with local schools and RWAs, to strengthen police-community trust.
Action against drug trafficking
On enforcement priorities, the LG directed sustained, intelligence-led action against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and called for strengthening the capability of police stations to handle cybercrime complaints and preserve digital evidence, in coordination with specialised cyber units for cases requiring immediate intervention.
Traffic Management
On traffic management, he directed identification and monitoring of major congestion points, with visible presence during peak hours and strengthened real-time CCTV and Traffic Control Room monitoring.
Police Welfare: Police colonies to be developed as models of zero waste areas
On police welfare, the LG directed senior officers to hold fixed-hour grievance hearings at Headquarters, timely promotions particularly for lower ranks and women personnel and the development of police colonies as Model Zero-Waste Colonies. He reiterated zero tolerance for corruption, directing senior officers to closely monitor internal integrity in public dealings.
The LG appreciated Delhi Police and all other security agencies for the successful and secure conduct of the BRICS Summit, noting that the scale of the event reflected careful planning, close coordination and the highest standards of professionalism, while ensuring minimum disruption to normal life in the Capital. He said the operational lessons from the Summit would provide valuable inputs for strengthening preparedness for future major international events in Delhi.
The LG emphasized citizen-centric, visible and responsive policing across the Capital and said he expects leadership at every level, from Headquarters to the police station, to translate these priorities into visible action on the ground, so that the people of Delhi truly feel Delhi is safe and secure.
